About the engine
AskBack™ — the engine that asks back
Every tool in this category can score an answer. The moment that actually decides a high-stakes interview, speech, or presentation is the one no tool rehearses with you: the unscripted follow-up. AskBack™ is built around that moment — it diagnoses your recorded answer in the same minute, then asks the second question, generated from what you just said, and spoken out loud.
It asks the second question — and tells you the truth.
What happens when you record
One recording is read four independent ways, and the rubric for your track — job, boarding school, university, speech, or presentation — judges the result:
- Pronunciation, phoneme by phoneme
The 20-second mic & voice check is scored sound-by-sound — so "weak r and th" is measured, not guessed.
- Pace, pauses, and fillers — timestamped
A verbatim transcript with word timings turns delivery into numbers: words per minute, pause share, filler rate.
- Language patterns and structure
A language model reads the transcript against the rubric for your track — recurring L2 grammar patterns, story structure, whether you answered the question asked.
- Listener impression
A second model listens to the audio itself — confidence, energy, rhythm — the way a human interviewer hears you.
The report lands on four axes — clarity, fluency under pressure, structure, and presence — and ends the way a real interview does: with a follow-up question you didn’t prepare for.
What AskBack™ will never do
- Estimates, never official scores.
Numbers here exist to make practice measurable. They are not predictions of any exam band or admission outcome, and we never claim accuracy percentages.
- Never a memorization script.
AskBack™ builds frames from your own stories and rotates questions every session — because a memorized answer is exactly what collapses under the second question.
- Coaches the candidate only.
We never score candidates for an employer's or school's decision. The person being judged is the only customer.
- Accent is not a score.
The engine's listener-impression signals about accent identity are discarded, never surfaced. Clarity is about being understood, not about sounding like someone else.
- No live-interview copilot.
AskBack™ makes you stronger before the room. It will not whisper answers into a real interview.
