Boarding school interview

For applicants to US boarding schools — including the Vericant / InitialView recorded format.

The school interview

At schools like Hotchkiss, Andover, Deerfield, Exeter, and St. Paul’s it’s a 20–40 minute conversation with an admissions officer (on campus or Zoom) — your interests, your “why boarding school / why us,” daily life, what you’d bring. Parents usually chat separately. It’s a dialogue, not a quiz — and memorized speeches stand out badly.

Vericant / InitialView (third-party)

Common for international applicants: an 11–15 minute recorded one-shot interview + short writing, scored on Range · Accuracy · Fluency · Interaction · Coherence, ending with a 60–90s free-speech section you steer. $230–380 per attempt — and some schools only count your first take.

Both reward the same thing: sounding like yourself, thinking out loud, and recovering when a question surprises you — exactly what you’ll drill here.

Vericant-style mock — the full one-shot

6 spoken questions + 90s free speech, ≈12 minutes, no re-records. Session report at the end.
